A piece that reveals itself slowly — a slight movement of the wrist, and suddenly, it’s noticed.
That thought was brief, but it stayed.
Later that night, it refused to leave me alone. A wise man once said the best ideas are the ones that keep you awake — this was one of them. That was the moment it stopped being a thought and became an obligation. Production, at least in spirit, had begun. What I didn’t know then was how much trial and error stood ahead.
I started with a question: what colour carries respect without shouting?
The answer kept coming back the same — caramel. But there was a problem. Too many watches had already done it. Respectable, yes. Distinctive, no. Then the solution appeared: contrast. Two tones. Balance instead of excess. In that moment, I understood what it truly meant to be a watch modder — creativity beyond the box.
My heritage guided the next choice. Arabic numerals weren’t a design decision — they were inevitable. They grounded the watch, gave it identity. Then came the hardest part: the details no one sees at first glance. Bracelet placement. Tone distribution. Band choice. Every possibility questioned. Every outcome considered.
Overthinking became my enemy. Motivation slipped away, slowly, like sand through open fingers.
A week passed. The idea never left.
One school night, unable to sleep, I got up and drove to the nearest 24-hour petrol station. I came back with an orange juice and two Capri Suns and dropped them on my desk. Still nothing clicked. Defeated, I reached to move the drinks aside — and stopped.
Orange in the centre. Silver on the sides.
That was it.
The first prototype of Caramel Éclat was born in that moment. I sketched it the next day at school. The same afternoon I sent it to my suppliers. To my surprise, they believed in it immediately. That belief became fuel.
When the parts arrived, it felt like Christmas. I assembled the watch in a single, intense hour — deliberate, careful, precise. No scratches. No compromises. When it was finished, the Caramel Arabic Dial existed in reality.
But a watch like this couldn’t be left unnamed.
I wore it out the next day. Quiet design. Subtle presence. Yet people noticed. They were drawn to it — not because it was loud, but because it wasn’t. That’s when it became clear: this watch doesn’t demand respect. It earns it.
Searching for the right word led me somewhere unexpected — French.
Éclat. A subtle glow. A restrained brilliance. Something that reveals itself, rather than announces itself.
That was the moment it became final.
Caramel Éclat had crossed the line — from a fleeting idea to something real.
